Bruins Vs. Capitals Score Update: Rich Peverley's Goal Gives B's Early 1-0 Lead

Stay connected for news and updates

For those of you who thought not having the red hot Nathan Horton in tonight's lineup would stall the productivity of the Bruins' first line, think again.

Against a relatively stingy Washington Capitals defense, the first line was able to find the back of the net, with a little bit of luck though. With 2:14 left to go in the first, Rich Peverley, who is filling in for Horton on the first line, found the back of the net off a deflection from Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner's stick to put the Bruins up 1-0. Patrice Bergeron and Dennis Seidenberg were credited with assists.

Tuukka Rask has been very solid so far the Bruins in place of Tim Thomas. Rask has saved 10 of 10 shots from a Capitals team that is without standing forward Alex Ovechkin, who began serving a five-game suspension on Tuesday. And for the exception of Peverley's goal, Capitals goalie Tomas Vokoun has held the B's offensive lines in check; saving 11 of 12 shots from Boston shooters.
