Boston Bruins' D Andrew Ference To Hear From NHL Regarding Charge

Stay connected for news and updates

As first reported by CSNNE.com, Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference will hear from the NHL office on Sunday morning regarding his hit on New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh during the Rangers 3-2 overtime win on Saturday afternoon.

The hit occurred shortly into the overtime frame when Ference -- while traveling at a fast speed -- ran into McDonagh and sent him into the boards, causing a nasty collision.

Ference was given both a five minute major and a game misconduct for his actions, and the Rangers eventually scored on the extra man attack in the waning seconds of the battle of the Eastern Conference elites.

The severity of McDonagh's injuries remain unclear right now, but it would appear that the call from the league office is a prelude to a suspension for Ference.

The 32-year old defenseman has never been suspended in his 11-plus seasons in the NHL.
