Believe it or not, these two teams--the two Eastern Conference Finalists from last year-- both admitted that they aren't playing the kind of hockey they want to be right now.
The only distinction? Boston just sits one point out of first place in the Conference. Tampa Bay? Dead last.
The Bruins will be playing their second game in as many days, and their third in four days. Last night, they took a 3-2 shootout victory over the neighboring Florida Panthers, but were lucky to get those two points. Patrice Bergeron scored both their goals in regulation and then the shootout goal that kept them in the running.
David Krejci ended up scoring the game winner in the shootout, but none of them were 100% pleased with their efforts.
Meanwhile, the Lightning are a different story. They are still looking for their first win of the new year, as they have battled with a 0-6-1 record in the month of January.
The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on NESN and aired on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
