Zdeno Chara To Be Questioned By Montreal Police After Max Pacioretty Hit

The series between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens in the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs seems like a distant memory now, a mere bump in the road in the Bruins' journey to their first Stanley Cup since 1972.

Sadly, B's captain Zdeno Chara will have to relive the most horrifying part of that series all over again, as Montreal Police still want to question Chara following his hit on Max Pacioretty of the Canadiens.

Chara knocked Pacioretty into the edge of the boards, which resulted in a severe concussion and a fractured vertebrae. Chara was not suspended for the hit, causing a stir with Canadiens fans, who called the police to seek a criminal charge against him.

Montreal Police said that they would wait until the end of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to question Chara, and with the season in the books, they are close to the end of their investigation.

According to CBC news, Sgt. Ian Lafreniere has indicated the investigation is near completion, but that they still need to speak to Chara.

"We haven't met Chara, we don't have his version of the facts, and also at the end of it, [a report is] going to be presented to a crown prosecutor, and this is the person who will decide whether there will be some accusations," he said. (via WEEI)

Pacioretty was naturally upset about the hit, but Tweeted that he didn't want to see Chara prosecuted.

Last comment on this: I hope Chara is NOT prosecuted. I have moved on from my incident and I hope everyone else can do the same.less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply
