Kansas vs. Temple preview: Game time, TV schedule and more

In search of their 11th consecutive win, the Kansas Jayhawks will welcome the Temple Owls to Allen Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon for a marquee game on national television.

Representing the final non-conference game on Kansas' schedule, Sunday's meeting will air live on CBS in the middle of the afternoon. Following a five-game stretch where his senior big man amassed 19 blocks, head coach Bill Self will hope to use yet another dominant defensive performance from player of the year candidate Jeff Withey to overwhelm an opponent. The 7'0" Withey ranks second in college basketball with 4.9 blocks per game, and continues to score at an impressive rate with double-digit points in seven of his last eight contests.

The Owls are one of the best teams in America at limiting turnovers at the offensive end, but have often struggled with consistency from three-point range despite their 10-2 record. In addition to a monumental Dec. 22 victory over a previously-undefeated Syracuse team, Temple has already picked up non-conference wins over both Villanova and Kent State.

2013 GoDaddy.com Bowl: Kent State vs. Arkansas State game preview, location, history and more

In search of their first bowl victory in school history, the Kent State Golden Flashes will hit the field on Sunday evening for the 14th annual GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

The Golden Flashes will square off against an Arkansas State team that will be making its second straight postseason appearance in Mobile, after falling by 18 points to Northern Illinois in last year's event. Along with bringing a seven-game winning streak, the Red Wolves feature a dominant rushing attack that averaged 217.4 yards on the ground per game in the regular season. Junior David Oku leads the charge with 1,024 yards and 15 touchdowns, and is one of four Arkansas State players with at least 300 yards rushing and three rushing scores this season.

Following a tough loss to Northern Illinois in the 2012 Mid-American Conference title game, the Golden Flashes will also hope to rely on their nationally-ranked rushing attack led by the duo of Dri Archer and Trayion Durham. The two backs have already combined for 2,600 yards and 29 touchdowns through 13 games, and will each be the keys to victory on Sunday evening against a stingy Red Wolves defense.

Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State: Game Time, TV info and more

After wrapping up their non-conference schedule with an 11-2 record, the Kansas State Wildcats will play host to the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday afternoon to officially open their Big 12 Conference slate.

The Wildcats enter in search of their fifth consecutive win, following a four-game stretch that includes a hard-fought victory over a Florida Gators team with national title aspirations. Kansas State remains one of the most prolific teams in America when it comes to grabbing offensive rebounds, and currently leads all Big 12 schools with an impressive 43.7 percent offensive rebounding rate.

Although no player on head coach Bruce Weber's roster averages more than seven rebounds per game, as many as eight players each haul down an average of three boards on a nightly basis.

Set for the first of two scheduled meetings this season, Kansas State pulled out victories in both games against the Cowboys a year ago in league play. This time around, however, the Cowboys will have the services of star freshman Marcus Smart, a 6'4 scoring guard currently averaging 13.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.

One of the top prospects in America coming out of high school in Texas, Smart posted a career-high 23 points in a narrow loss to Gonzaga on New Year's Eve and will be a player to watch on Saturday.

Missouri vs. Bucknell preview: Tigers to host Bison Saturday

Unable to slide past UCLA in their previous game, the Missouri Tigers will hit the court for the first time in 2013 on Saturday afternoon against the Bucknell Bison in Columbia.

Set to mark their last non-conference game of the season, the Tigers have one final opportunity to iron out any issues before kicking off their SEC schedule against Alabama on Jan. 8. Missouri picked up a whopping 19 assists from star point guard Phil Pressey in a heart-breaking loss to the Bruins, but the junior floor general has only hit 26.8% of his field goals over his last five games and continues to struggle with his shot.

Bucknell enters Saturday's game with victories against Purdue, Kent State and George Mason to its credit thus far in 2012-13, and will once again look to rely on senior forward Mike Muscala. The 6'11", 234-pound Muscala is on pace to set career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, and blocks with conference play looming large, and may be Bucknell's only hope to keep Haith's relentless attack off balance.

GoDaddy.com Bowl 2013: Kent State vs. Arkansas State odds and lines

Eager to wrap up an impressive campaign, the Kent State Golden Flashes will hit the field on Sunday evening in the 2013 GoDaddy.com Bowl.

Standing in Kent State's way is a talented Arkansas State team coming off a 9-3 campaign and a Sun Belt Conference title. The Red Wolves feature a significantly more potent passing attack than the Golden Flashes at 264.4 yards per game, but will not have the guidance of former head coach Gus Malzahn after he was lured away by Auburn in early December. Set for its second consecutive appearance, Arkansas State came up short in last year's GoDaddy.com Bowl against Northern Illinois, 38-20.

While the Golden Flashes will bring a stellar 9-1 record in their last 10 games that have been played on field turf, the Red Wolves will counter with an impressive 9-1 mark as a favorite when playing away from home. Seven of the last 10 favorites in the GoDaddy.com Bowl (formerly the GMAC Bowl) have gone on to win the game against the spread however, and it's clear that Kent State will have its hands full in order to buck the trend.

2013 bowl game schedule: Cotton Bowl showdown to highlight weekend slate

With the majority of bowls around the country already long over, fans will have only three more opportunities to catch a college football game this weekend before Monday's BCS National Championship.

In a game pitting two of the most explosive offenses in the sport, Friday night's Cotton Bowl between Texas A&M and Oklahoma looks to have all of the ingredients for a possible shootout. Aggies freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel is coming off a remarkable season where he amassed 4,600 yards from scrimmage with 43 total touchdowns, and the 6'1 Kerrville, Texas, native will try to cap off his year with a bowl win over Bob Stoops' Sooners.

Scheduled to be played immediately before NFL playoff football begins on Saturday, the BBVA Compass Bowl will feature a pair of six-win schools in Pittsburgh and Ole Miss. Kent State and Arkansas State will then square off in the GoDaddy.com Bowl on Sunday to wrap up the weekend in style, as the Red Wolves will look to rebound from a loss to Northern Illinois in last year's event.

2013 NFL playoff schedule: Texans to kick off Wild Card round on Saturday

Set to make an appearance in the postseason for the second straight year, the Houston Texans will kick off their quest for a Super Bowl championship on Saturday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Texans enter after losing three of their last four games, but still managed to snag home-field advantage due to their impressive 11-1 start to the season. In the first of four Wild Card games scheduled for the NFL's opening weekend, Houston will try to fend off a 10-win Cincinnati team eager to turn its red-hot second-half surge into a deep playoff run.

After topping the 4,000-yard passing mark for the third time in his career, Houston quarterback Matt Schaub will finally make his first NFL start as a playoff signal caller this weekend. Schaub suffered a Lisfranc injury to his right foot late last season and was forced to watch the playoffs from the sidelines, but is fully healthy and looks poised to lead the Texans to their first AFC title game in team history.

2013 College Hockey schedule: Denver to host Cornell over weekend

Looking to keep the momentum going following a 6-0 shutout win over Boston University, the Denver Pioneers will hit the ice this weekend for a two-game homestand against the Cornell Big Red.

Denver currently sits at 10-6-3 overall this season, and has racked up 17 points in WCHA play through 14 games. Despite giving up 12 goals over a three-game span before facing Boston U., the Pioneers exploded to connect on six of their 38 shots against an overwhelmed Terrier defense. After squaring off to begin the weekend on Friday night, the two programs will again hit the ice for a rematch on Saturday evening at 7:05 p.m. MT.

Facing yet another difficult road trip after meeting St. Cloud State before the holidays, Colorado College will try to move back to .500 on the season with two games against Nebraska-Omaha this weekend. The Tigers are just 3-5 when playing away from home this year, and are tied for eighth in the WCHA standings with 11 points through 12 league games.
