Stay connected for news and updates

Brian Harvey's 19-yard field goal late in the first quarter helped the Maine Black Bears set the tone for a possible upset in Chestnut Hill, but the Boston College Eagles recovered nicely and scored 34 unanswered points to claim their first victory of the year Saturday.

Boston College totaled 385 yards on offense, down from their 537 yards in the season opener loss to the Miami Hurricanes last weekend, and the Eagles kept the Black Bears under the 200-yard mark at 134 for the game. BC and Maine combined for five turnovers.

Chase Rettig, who topped 400 yards passing last Saturday, completed 16-of-32 passes for 219 yards and three scores to pace Boston College. Alex Amidon grabbed six passes for 99 yards, Rolandan Finch rushed for 90 yards and Andre Williams had 61 rushing yards.

Marcus Wasilewski threw for 134 yards (20-of-42) and was intercepted twice for Maine. David Hood rushed for 64 yards on 21 carries and Derrick Johnson had 37 receiving yards.

Boston College travels west to take on the Northwestern Wildcats next Saturday.
