Chandler Whitmer and the UConn Huskies (1-0) will look to build off their success in last weekend's season opener when they take on the N.C. State Wolfpack (0-1) in Week 2 action at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon in East Hartford, CT.

Chandler Whitmer debuted well with the UConn Huskies during last Saturday's 37-0 rout of the UMass Minutemen, and he and the Huskies will be looking to build on last weekend's success when they host the N.C. State Wolfpack on Saturday afternoon at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, CT.

UConn and N.C. State have once before, with the Wolfpack topping the Huskies, 31-24, in their first meeting on October 11, 2003. UConn quarterback Dan Orlovsky was a yard shy of 300 passing yards and threw for three touchdowns in the loss, outperforming a quarterback named Philip Rivers (234 passing yards, two touchdowns). Connecticut hasn't fared well against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents historically, going 4-10 all time.

Whitmer threw for 219 yards on 15-of-25 passes, but was picked off twice in his FBS debut. It didn't matter, though, as the Huskies stopmed out the Minutemen in their FBS debut. UConn amassed 372 yards of offense -- sophomore standout back Lyle McCombs also rushed for 82 yards and a score -- and gave up 59 yards, only three of which came on the ground. After its Week 1 rout, UConn is ranked No. 1 in the nation in total defense.

N.C. State, despite recording over 407 yards in its season opener, fell to Tennessee in Week 1, 35-21. Wolfpack quarterback Mike Glennon threw for 288 yards and a touchdown but was picked off four times. Tyler Bray racked up 333 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Volunteers to victory. Quintin Payton had just four catches but averaged 32.3 yards per catch to total 129 receiving yards. Four N.C. State backs combined for 119 rushing yards.

Saturday's game kicks off at 12 p.m. ET and will air on SNY and on WTIC 1080-AM.
