After shooting a 4-under 67 to claim the Deutsche Bank Championship at the TPC Boston on Labor Day Monday, Rory McIlroy made a strong charge to the top spot in the FedEx Cup standings, leading Nick Watney and Tiger Woods midway through golf's playoff.
McIlroy sat in fourth place in the FedEx Cup standings after The Barclays, but his victory on Monday has pushed him past Watney, Woods and Brandt Snedeker. McIlroy will enter next weekend's BMW Championship with a 1,331 point lead over second-place Woods. A victory at the BMW will be worth 2,500 points in the standings.
