Lyle McCombs racked up 97 rushing yards and one touchdown as the UConn Huskies (3-2) outlasted the Buffalo Bulls en route to a 24-17 victory on Saturday afternoon at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, CT.

Chad Cristen's 29-yard field goal opened the scoring at 10:10 of the first quarter, but a four-yard scoring rush from Brandon Murie at 6:12 gave Buffalo a 7-3 lead. UConn scored two unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter, a 36-yard pass from Chandler Whitmer (15-of-22, 227 yards) to Ryan Griffin at 14:54 and a 50-yard run from Martin Hyppolite at 10:56, giving the Huskies a 17-7 lead at halftime.

McCombs scored his lone touchdown on a two-yard run at 5:03 of the third quarter to widen the gap to 24-7, but Alex Zordich's 50-yard pass to Brandon Murie with 33 seconds left in the third made it a ten points game. Buffalo added a field goal on 44-yard kick from Patrick Clarke, but couldn't come any closer.

UConn heads back out on the road to face Rutgers next Saturday afternoon.
