The National Hockey League has cancelled its entire preseason schedule, including eight total Boston Bruins games, due to the ongoing work stoppage.

The National Hockey League has canceled the rest of the remaining preseason schedule as the labor dispute between the owners and players presses on. Had the lockout been resolved immediately, the Boston Bruins would have played three more games before opening the regular season on October 11.

Previously, the league had wiped out all preseason games through this past Sunday. Boston was originally scheduled to open the preseason on September 14 against the Winnipeg Jets. In total, the Bruins were supposed to play eight preseason games, only two of which would have taken place at TD Garden in Boston, MA.

While the owners and players are not currently negotiating, multiple reports indicate that the two sides will meet again on Friday. This is the fourth NHL Lockout since 1992. The most recent lockout came in 2004, and the entire 2004-2005 season was cancelled as a result.

The lockout, which began at 12:01 a.m. ET on Sept. 16, is in its twelfth day.
