Brian Waters Reportedly Turned Down $4 Million This Year From Patriots

Stay connected for news and updates

Offensive lineman Brian Waters turned down a $4 million offer from the New England Patriots to play for the team this season, according to a report by the Boston Globe. The offer came in training camp and would have made him the second highest paid lineman on the team behind only Logan Mankins.

Waters is making $1.4 million in base salary while currently being listed on the reserve/did not report list, meaning he does not count against the Patriots' 53-man roster.

Since the Patriots' loss in Super Bowl XLVI, Waters has stated that he is considering retirement. In addition, he also made it clear that he would ideally like to play closer to his home in Texas, which has led some to believe that he would like to join the Houston Texans.

However, it is unlikely that the Patriots would allow such a thing to happen considering the Texans may be a future playoff opponent. If Waters is going to play this season, it will be with the Patriots.
