Northwestern broke into the end zone for the first time with 1:47 remaining in the game, but more than 500 yards of offense and five field goals was enough to push the Wildcats past the Boston College Eagles, 22-13, on Saturday afternoon at Ryan Field in Evanston, IL.

Chase Rettig played well for the Eagles (1-2), completing 24-of-44 passes for 290 yards and one touchdown, a 31-yard strike to Jonathan Coleman with 1:38 left in the second quarter. Alex Amidon had 117 receiving yards and Coleman finished with 81 yards for BC. The Eagles' rushing attack was kept in check, as Rolandan Finch, Tahj Kimble, Andre Williams and Rettig combined for 24 rushing yards on 21 carries. Boston College was in the game until the closing minutes prior to a 27-yard touchdown rush from Mike Trumpy.

Kain Colter passed for 145 yards on 16-of-19 passes and Trevor Siemian had 123 yards through the air for Northwestern (3-0). Trumpy rushed for 100 yards and Venric Mark had 81 yards on the ground. Demetrius Field had nine catches for 77 yards. Jeff Budzien was 5-for-5 in the kicking game, accounting for 15 points, with a long field goal of 42 yards.

Boston College now enters its bye week, but will return home to host Clemson on Sept. 29.
