London Olympics 2012: Team USA Women's Basketball Defeats Australia, 86-73

After a rough start to the semifinal round by the Team USA women, it was an 86-73 victory for the Americans in the end. The second half of the game was much better than the first for Team USA, which allowed Australia to outscore them in both the first and second quarters.

Australia held a two-point lead over the U.S. after one, then by four points at halftime.

Team USA turned it up in the third quarter by outscoring Australia by 10 (22-12) and claiming the lead that was mostly theirs for the rest of the way. Former UConn stars Diana Taurasi and Tina Charles led the way for Team USA with 14 points, while another former UConn standout, Sue Bird, added 13 in the victory.

For Australia, Elizabeth Cambage led all scorers with 19 points. Lauren Jackson chipped in 14, while Kristi Harrower finished with 12 points.
