NFL teams have until 9 p.m., ET on Friday night to reduce their rosters to the 53-man limit. The 33-year-old receiver appears to be a causality of that process.

Originally selected by the Patriots with the No. 65 overall selection in the 2002 NFL Draft, Branch won two Super Bowl titles with the team in addition to being named the MVP in Super Bowl XXXIX. Following the 2005 season, he held out and was subsequently traded to the Seattle Seahawks for a first-round pick. In 2010, he was traded back to the Patriots for a fourth round pick.
In 2011, Branch registered 51 receptions for 702 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games played.
