The 2012 Summer Games in London have been terrific thus far. Looking ahead, there's no reason to think that trend can't continue with a bevy of events slated for Friday.

The swimming competitions have been treating the Americans kindly thus far, with Missy Franklin, Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte headlining the team. On Friday, the U.S. will have ample opportunity to add medals to its total with the following finals:

2:38 p.m. ET: Men's 100 Butterfly

2:45 p.m. ET: Women's 800m Freestyle

3:09 p.m. ET: Men's 50m Freestyle

Saunderstown, RI native Elizabeth Beisel will be competing in the 200 Backstroke as one of the favorites to take home the gold.

Another event to keep a close eye on will at 9:30 a.m. ET. The U.S. Women's soccer team is in the quarterfinals taking on underdog New Zealand.

Women's basketball is also in action, with the Americans squaring off against the Czech Republic at 5:30 p.m. ET.

All together, 27 medals will be handed out to some of the hardest working athletes on the planet by the end of Friday evening.
