Watney was tied briefly with Garcia after two holes, but a bogey on hole five moved him back in to second place. He birdied hole seven to bring himself within a stroke of the leader.

With three rounds in the books at the 2012 Barclays, Sergio Garcia has claimed the lead by two strokes over Nick Watney.
Garcia came into the day at 8-under and finished 10-under with a pair of birdies on the back nine 11th and 13th. The Spaniard was excellent in that stretch, overtaking Watney who went into Saturday's turn with a two-stroke advantage.
Watney appeared dominant early, but went into a funk starting on the 11th. From that point on, Watney bogeyed four of the remaining eight holes.
Tiger Woods is all but out of contention after finished the day with a 1-over 72. Woods looked good through the first two rounds, but couldn't get much going with four birdies but an unsightly five bogeys.
The best day belonged to Kevin Stadler, who shot a 6-under on the round to move from 42nd to 3rd place. The American is only three shots behind Garcia heading into the final day.

The 2012 Barclays at Bethpage Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. have been terrific thus far with Nick Watney leading in the third round.
Watney is 11-under on the tournament, including a 3-under score through nine holes on Saturday. Watney has been very consistent throughout the tournament, shooting a 65 and 69 on the first two days.
Sergio Garcia remains right in the hunt with a total of 9-under, also through nine holes. The Spaniard is one below par on the afternoon.
However, the biggest climb up the leaderboard has been authored by Kevin Stadler. The American looked almost out of contention heading into the weekend, but posted a 6-under 65 to put himself into the thick of things. Stadler is currently just four shots off the lead.
Tiger Woods is lurking but still have some ground to make up. He's at 5-under overall and hasn't been able to get traction on the third day with an even score.

Keegan Bradley isn't off to the best start at The Barclays, but an eagle has him at a respectable 1-over, while Nick Watney leads the field at 6-under.
Bradley, the New England native, started on the back nine and had a bogey and a double bogey on his first six holes but an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole. Bradley's strong season has him high in the FedEx Cup rankings, so a strong performance in this and other FedEx Cup Playoffs events could see him bring home golf's cumulative season trophy.
Bradley obviously isn't in too much trouble as its only the first day of play, but the rest of the leaderboard is scoring quite well. Watney is in first, but behind him are Padraig Harrington and Gary Christian at 5-under while five golfers are at 4-under.
Worcester native Scott Stallings is already in the clubhouse for the day, having shot a 1-over 72.
