Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Clay Buchholz is nearing a return after a scary bout with esophagitis.
Buchholz threw a bullpen today. He should be back no later then 2nd turn through rotation after the break

Buchholz hasn't pitched since June 19. He is 8-2 with a 5.53 ERA so far this season over 14 starts.
A number of other key Red Sox contributors are also dealing with injuries. Carl Crawford will continue his rehab assignment in Triple-A Pawtucket Saturday night. Dustin Pedroia was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a hyperextended thumb. Rich Hill was sent to the 60-day DL. Will Middlebrooks strained his hamstring last week, and Jacoby Ellsbury, who has missed almost the entire season with a shoulder injury, is continuing his rehab assignment in Double-A Portland.
