London 2012 Olympics: China Takes Gold In Women's 10m Air Rifle, Team USA Finishes In Top 10

The Women's 10m Air Rifle shooting event has taken place, and China takes both the Gold and Bronze medals. Siling Yi finished first, Sylwia Bogacka of Poland took Silver, and Dan Yu finished third. Two members of Team USA competed, with Sarah Scherer of Woburn finishing seventh and Jamie Gray finishing fifth.

Scherer posted a score of 397 in the qualifying round and 102.0 in the final. Scores in the shooting events are incredibly close, and Sherer's 102.0 was only 1.9 off the winning score. The 10m Air Rifle was Sherer's only event at the 2012 Olympics, so she is now free to enjoy the sights and comforts of the Olympic Village while cheering on the rest of her Team USA teammates.
