MLS All-Star Game 2012: Eddie Johnson Goal Wins It, 3-2

Stay connected for news and updates

Eddie Johnson of the Seattle Sounders made himself an unlikely hero of the 2012 MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday night. In the 91st minute of play, Johnson scored a third goal for the MLS team, sealing a 3-2 win over Chelsea FC, the defending European champs.

Johnson's goal was not the prettiest of scores, especially compared to the play on Chris Pontius' goal that tied the game. A deflection off the foot of David Luiz put it in the net for Johnson's goal, turning the former Fullham bench player into the night's highlight.

David Beckham hit a long ball to Dwayne De Rosario to get behind the Chelsea defenders. De Rosario fed his D.C. United teammate, Pontius, to tie the game at 73 minutes. Chris Wondolowski, the league's leading scorer, opened the scoring for the MLS team.
