Team USA men's basketball defeated Spain, 100-78, in a pre-Olympic exhibition in Barcelona, Spain on Tuesday. The U.S. finished 5-0 in exhibition games.
While the U.S. won the game comfortably down the stretch, at halftime, the score was 48-40 in favor of Team USA. Spain's Serge Ibaka was whistled for three goaltending calls in the half which helped the U.S. In the second half, Team USA did not waste time in building a 15-point lead. Despite having center Tyson Chandler foul out with eight minutes left, Team USA was able to defend the painted area well and did not see their lead dwindle.
The U.S. was led by 27 points by Carmelo Anthony, who came off the bench and scored 23 in first half. LeBron James chipped in 25 points. Serge Ibaka gave Spain 16 points in the first half but couldn't add any points to his total in the second half. Pau Gasol led Spain with 19 points.
