David Ortiz Injures Leg During Red Sox Win Monday, MRI Scheduled

Stay connected for news and updates

David Ortiz injured his leg rounding second base on Andrian Gonzalez's go-ahead three-run home run during the Boston Red Sox win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday night. Ortiz appeared to tweak his leg, and had to hobble back home to score the run. The veteran slugger says he should be fine, but an MRI is scheduled on his right Achillies tendon for Tuesday regardless.

Ortiz was less composed as he walked to the showers after the game, however, saying "this (expletive) team is cursed."

Ortiz had broken Ted Williams' record of nine consecutive games with a hit and a walk earlier in the night. He has now hit in 11 straight games.
