The Connecticut Sun defeated the Indiana Fever by a score of 89-81 on Friday night, improving to 5-1 and breaking a three way tie for first. If Chicago loses on Friday, the Sun will find themselves alone at the top of the standings.
Kara Lawson led things for the Suns, picking up 18 while shooting 7-12 on field goals and 3-6 with three point attempts. Tina Charles, near the top of the individual standings in points scored, had 12 points for the night. Indiana was unable to capitalize on a 31 performance from Tamika Catchings, even with Katie Douglas adding another 23. It was the fifth win in six games for the Sun, who have thus far only lost to the defending champion Minnesota Lynx. They shot only 32.5% in that game, considerably worse than Friday night's 47.14%.
With the loss the Fever drop to 4-2. The two teams will face each other three more times this season. A complete box score for the game can be found here.
