French Open Results: Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal Advance To Final

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will face off in the final of the 2012 French Open tournament after winning their respective semi final matches on Friday. Nadal demolished David Ferrer in three sets, 6-2, 6-2, and 6-1. Djokovic was less dominant but equally successful, beating Roger Federer 6-4, 7-5, and 6-3.

Nadal moved one step from his seventh French Open title, as the number two seed dispatched the number six seed with relative ease. He remains focused on his task, however. Via French Open :

"I did almost everything right," said Nadal. "But I don’t believe in perfection. It does not exist. You can always play better. I am not thinking I am in the final without losing a set; I am just thinking I am in the final. Experience has taught me you can lose when you are playing fantastic; you can win when you are not playing that well. Last year I had the impression I didn’t really play that well, whereas this year I am playing really well."

No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic will meet Nadal in the final after capitalizing on an inconsistent performance by Roger Federer. Federer had 46 unforced errors on the day, drawing many comments about his 30 years of age and the inevitability of time. Djokovic was on top of things, his unforced error count only 17, nearly 30 less than Federer.

The Men's Singles final will take place on Sunday. The full scoreboard for the tournament can be found here.
