After Thursday's matches in the Women's side of the draw at the 2012 French Open, the final has been set.
Maria Sharapova will be the new No. 1 player on Monday and will meet the No. 21 seed Sara Errani in the final.
Sharapova defeated No. 4 seed Petra Kvitova, 6-3, 6-3, on Thursday. Errani beat the No. 6 seed Samantha Stosur, 7-5, 1-6, 6-3.
Sharapova and Errani will both be making their first appearance in the final at Roland Garros. For Errani, the French Open final will also be her first final in a major tournament in her career. Sharapova, who had made the semifinal at the French Open in 2007 and 2011 said, "What an amazing feeling. I've always dreamed of being on the final stage here. Finally, I have that opportunity, and I'm more than excited." (via NYT)
