Boston Red Sox pitcher Daniel Bard will be pitching in Monday night's game for the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox. However, Bard will be throwing from the bullpen and not starting, according to a report (via Maureen Mullen's Twitter).
Could this be a sign of things to come for Bard when he returns to the Boston Red Sox? Bard was demoted to the Pawtucket club after a poor showing as a starter for the big league club this season. Bard was 5-6 as a starter with a 5.24 ERA with 34 strikeouts and 37 walks. For his pro career, Bard is just 10-19 with a 3.39 ERA. He has 247 strikeouts to 113 walks.
Bard's first start in the minors this year went bad as well. He lasted just one inning, hitting the first batter and third batters he faced. Bard made it out of the first inning and struck out two batters but was pulled after giving up three earned runs on two hits.
