2012 Kentucky Derby Winner: 'I'll Have Another' Wins First Race Of Triple Crown

Stay connected for news and updates

I'll Have Another has won the 138th Kentucky Derby. The horse's jockey – Mario Gutierrez – was riding in his first-career Kentucky Derby, earning the horse's owner – J. Paul Reddam – his first career Kentucky Derby win, as well. Doug O'Neil trained I'll Have Another.

This marks the first race of horse racing's Triple Crown. I'll Have Another will have to go two-for-two at the Preakness in two weeks, before we can start thinking about our first Triple Crown winner in over 30 years.

I'll Have Another opened the day with 12/1 odds of winning the Derby, and dropped to 13/1 as the start of the race approached. The favorite, Bodemeister, finished second, while Dullahan finished third.

Below is a video of the race in its entirety.
