2012 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship: Pair Of Maryland Schools Face Off In Title Game

Two college men's lacrosse programs located just 35 miles a part in the state of Maryland will meet in each other in Foxborough, Mass. at Gillette Stadium Monday to battle for the National Championship (1 p.m. ET on ESPN). After winning their respective semifinal contests Saturday in Foxborough, the Loyola (Md.) Greyhounds and Maryland Terrapins will battle for the first time since 1998, when they met in the national semifinals.

The No. 1-seeded Greyhounds moved onto to the championship by downing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 7-5. Eric Lusby scored five goals in the victory for Loyola, which will be playing in its second national title game in its history. The last time the Greyhounds played in the championship was in 1990.

To get to the semifinals, the Greyhounds routed Canisius (17-5) and squeaked by Denver (10-9).

Meanwhile, Maryland's run to the finals has been a bit easier. In the first round, the Terrapins edged Lehigh (10-9), then beat down John's Hopkins (11-5) and the Duke Blue Devils (16-10), respectively.

All-time, Maryland owns a 19-1 series advantage over Loyola.
