Dion Waiters led all scorers with 18 points as the No. 1 seeded Syracuse Orange ousted the defending national champion and No. 9 seeded Connecticut Huskies, 58-55, in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 Big East Tournament on Thursday.

Big East Tournament 2012: Day-One Schedule Features UConn Vs. DePaul

The 2012 Big East Tournament begins Tuesday at Madison Square Garden, and for the second straight year the Connecticut Huskies, the No. 9 seed, will kick start the five-day, 16-team, single-elimination event as they will play at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

UConn will face No. 16 DePaul Blue Demons in the first round with the winner advancing to the second round to play No. 9 West Virginia Mountaineers (12 p.m. on ESPN).


Big East Tournament 2012: UConn Looking For Improbable Repeat

After the Huskies play, however, the Big East will play three more first-round contests, so here's a look at Tuesday's bracket and TV schedule:

Tuesday, March 6 (First Round):

Noon ET: (No. 16-seed) DePaul Blue Demons vs. (9) Connecticut Huskies (ESPN2)
2 p.m.: (13) Pittsburgh Panthers vs. (12) St. John's Red Storm (ESPN2)
7 p.m.: (15) Providence Friars vs. (10) Seton Hall Pirates (ESPNU)

Big East Tournament 2012: Bracket, Schedule And More

The 2012 Big East Tournament field is finalized, as the league completed regular-season play Saturday. The bracket features the Connecticut Huskies as the No. 9 seed, which, ironically, is the same seed they were last season when they made their amazing run to the Big East Tournament crown.

The Syracuse Orange is the five-day, single-elimination events top seed, while the Marquette Golden Eagles, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Cincinnati Bearcats are No. 2-4 and each earned double-byes, respectively.

Here's a look at the bracket and TV schedule:

Tuesday, March 6 (First Round):
