The Harvard Crimson closed out their regular season schedule as they defeated the Cornell Big Red, 67-63 on the road at Newman Arena.
With the win, the Crimson (26-4, 12-2 IVY) clinched at least a share of the Ivy League title with the Penn Quakers, who remain a half game behind Harvard after they defeated Yale on Saturday night with one game to go. I
Oliver McNally was the high point man for the Crimson in this one with 17 points in 35 minutes on the floor. Kyle Casey finished with 11 points while Keith Wright nearly had a double-double with eight points and 11 boards.
However, the second half spark for the Crimson was from Brandyn Curry, who hit four consecutive three pointers to end a Big Red run that saw them take the lead in the second half. Curry finished the game with 12 points, all resulting from his big threes. Curry helped the Crimson carry a consistent three point attack for the Crimson in the second half, as the team finished with a three point field goal percentage of 46.2%.
A big part of why this game was so close at the end was the second half play of Big Red guard Chris Wroblewski, who finished with a game high 19 points. Wroblewski seemingly carried Cornell (12-16, 7-7 IVY) on his back and rebutted every Harvard shot with one of his own. Junior forward Eitan Chemerinski was the next top performer for the Big Red with nine points. However, it was too much Crimson in the end.
With the Crimson done with their schedule, they just have to wait and see on the state of the Ivy League Title. If the Quakers win, they will force a one-game playoff with Harvard for automatic NCAA tournament bid. If they lose, the Crimson are your champions. All they can do at this point is watch.
