Boston University Vs. Maine Halftime Update: Terriers Bench Starters To Begin, Still Lead 30-21

Boston University head coach Joe Jones decided he wanted to teach his starters a lesson Thursday and benched four of his five starters. I think they got the message.

The Terriers jumped out a 12-4 lead eight minutes into the game and never trailed as they earned a 30-21 lead heading into the break. Sophomore forward and senior guard Darryl Partin both scored seven points in just 10 minutes, after having to sit out the first three minutes of the game.

Point guard D.J. Irving added two points, four assists and four rebounds and the fourth benched starter, senior center Pat Hazel, added three points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Maine started out ice-cold, hitting just one of their first 10 shots and never really seemed to settle in with sophomore forward Alasdair Fraser sitting out with an ankle injury. Redshirt freshman Jon McAillan led the Black Bears with six points and sophomore point guard Andrew Rodgers added five points. The pair hit all three of Maine's 3-pointers within the final four minutes of the half, after Maine failed to hit one of their first eight attempts.
