Bruins Vs. Wild, Second Period Score: Boston Trails, 2-0

The Boston Bruins trail 2-0 to the Minnesota Wild after two periods of play at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota on Sunday.

After a scoreless first period that was closely fought, Minnesota got two goals in the second frame. Chad Rau scored his second of the season at the 10:15 mark. Rau was assisted by Dany Heatley and Cal Clutterbuck but the Wild center made the goal happen with a great individual effort. Rau beat Bruins goalie Tim Thomas with a quick wristshot after looking off the defender as if he was going to pass. Thomas seemed to think Rau was going to pass as well and left his feet a little early only to see the shot beat him.

On the second goal, Boston was simply unlucky. Matt Cullen was trying to shoot the puck in traffic and whiffed. The puck was still at his feet and he collected it and beat Thomas who had made a move to try to block the first attempt. The goal was a power-play goal after Chris Kelly was booked for tripping Cullen at the 15:03 mark. Cullen's goal came just 27 seconds later.
