Patriots vs. Dolphins score update: New England leads, 21-0, after three

Stay connected for news and updates

After extending their lead to 21-0 before the halftime break, the New England Patriots struggled to get much offense going in the beginning of the second half.

The Dolphins managed to drive the ball deep into Patriots' territory, moving it down inside the five. However, a botched hand-off between quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Reggie Bush led to a fumble and a recovery by the Patriots.

This was mostly a uninteresting quarter with both sides punting on more than one occasion. However, with a three touchdown lead in tow, the Patriots look to be well on their way to securing a first round bye-week. With the Denver Broncos leading the Kansas City Chiefs by 32 points, New England will likely land the No. 2 spot in the AFC.

The Patriots will begin the game's final quarter with the ball deep in Miami territory after a solid punt return from Wes Welker.
