There's plenty of hoops going on in Boston on Friday night, and although some of it is on the college level, you'll have to go see those games in person: only the NBA game and some games of national interest are on TV on the day when college hoops tips off. Let's take a look at tonight's TV schedule, with all times Eastern:
NBA: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics, 7:30 p.m., Comcast Sports New England: The Celtics try to go above .500 with a win in a game against an Atlantic Division opponent. The Sixers are 2-2, but they've struggled this year offensively without Andrew Bynum, boasting the lowest points-per-game total of any team in the league in the early stretch of the season.
College basketball: No. 14 Michigan St. Spartans vs. UConn Huskies, 5:30 p.m. ESPN: Kevin Ollie's first game as head coach of UConn will take place, oddly enough, in Germany, as they play a ranked Michigan State team at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany.
College football: Pitt Panthers vs. UConn Huskies, 8 p.m., ESPN: The good news for UConn fans is that technically, when this game happens, it will already be basketball season. The Huskies are hoping for their first conference win against a 4-5 Pitt team that barely lost to undefeated Notre Dame in triple overtime last week.
Elsewhere:
NBA: Utah vs. Denver, 10:30 p.m., ESPN
College basketball: Maryland vs. No. 3 Kentucky, 8:30 p.m., ESPN
No. 10 Florida vs. Georgetown, 9 p.m., NBCSN
Georgia St. vs. No. 8 Duke, 7 p.m., ESPNU
San Diego State vs. Alabama, 9 p.m., ESPNU
