The struggles continue for the Minutemen defense. After being blown out in the first half by Northern Illinois, 35-0, UMass has yet to prove it can stop a relentless Husky offense. Jordan Lynch, to be specific.
As Northern Illinois' starting quarterback, the junior from Chicago has amassed 348 total yards and is responsible for three touchdowns. Of those yards, 157 have come on the ground, highlighted by a 57-yard touchdown scamper. Two rushing touchdowns by Keith Harris Jr. and backup quarterback Matt McIntosh round out the eight touchdowns for the Huskies.
On the other side of the ball, UMass has been unable to sustain any drive, converting four third downs on twelve attempts and zero fourth downs in four seemingly misguided attempts. Three fumbles have also stalled drives and ultimately prevented the Minutemen from getting on the board.
UMass will remain winless this season and move to 0-9, while the Huskies will stay atop the West division in the MAC and move to 9-1 overall.

UMass won't find its first win of the season in this game, with the MAC-leading Northern Illinois Huskies cruising with a 35-0 lead at the half.
Junior quarterback Jordan Lynch has been a hot knife through butter, dicing up the Minutemen defensive front with 308 total yards and three touchdowns. Of those 308 yards, 153 have come on the ground, highlighted by a 57-yard run in the second quarter.
The Minutemen have not been able to sustain a drive, going 3-10 on third down and 0-4 on fourth down. Quarterback Mike Wegzyn is 14-for-25 with 114 yards but has not been able to equal Lynch in the ground game.
Keith Harris Jr. has added two rushing scores for Northern Illinois, scoring on goal-line carries of 1 and 2 yards.
Umass remains winless on the season, including 0-4 in conference play, while Northern Illinois will likely roll to a 9-1 record.

Things just don't get easier when mired in a winless college football season. The 0-8 Minutemen are being hosed by MAC-leading Northern Illinois, 14-0. The Huskies have scored through the air and on the ground, and have torched the UMass defense for 190 total yards in the first quarter.
Jordan Lynch started the Huskies off with a 9-yard touchdown strike to Martel Moore, and handed off to Keith Harris Jr. for a 1-yard score to make it 14-0. Lynch is 8-of-9 through the air for 98 yards and the one score, while UMass helmsman Mike Wegzyn has totaled just 33 yards on 11 attempts.
UMass remains the only team in the Mid-American Conference without a win, while the Huskies are one of two teams in the conference with only one loss. The Huskies lead the West division with a 5-0 record in conference play and an 8-1 record overall.
