Patriots vs. Jets halftime score: New England scores 35 in second quarter to take huge lead in New York

So, yeah. That all just happened.

The Patriots began the game's second quarter with the ball deep inside the red-zone after driving the ball down the field following a Steve Gregory interception of New York quarterback Mark Sanchez.

On the first play of the second frame, Pats' quarterback Tom Brady found an open Wes Welker in the endzone for a 3-yard touchdown pass, putting New England ahead, 7-0.

After a New York punt, the Patriots would score easily on an 83-yard catch-and-run down the left sideline by reserve tailback Shane Vereen, making the score 14-0. Only a couple of plays later, beastly Patriots' defensive tackle Vince Wilfork would pick up and toss a New York offensive lineman into Sanchez, forcing a fumble. Gregory happened to be in the right place at the right time, picking up the ball and walking into the endzone for a touchdown, extending the lead to 21-0.

On the ensuing kick-off, return man Joe McKnight would fumble the football -- courtesy of a brutal hit from Devin McCourty -- right into the arms of Julian Edelman, who would scamper directly into the endzone for another New England touchdown. In a matter of just 52 seconds, the Patriots' scored 21 points.

With just a couple of minutes left on the clock, the Patriots would go in for another touchdown when Tom Brady found Edelman open for a 56-yard catch-and run. The New England lead was then 35-0.

In a stroke of brilliance, Jets' head coach Rex Ryan took the chance to cut his team's deficit to 32 when he sent out Nick Folk for a short field goal at the end of the half. At the end of two quarters, the Patriots are ahead, 35-3.
