Boston College vs. Charleston: Eagles, Cougars meet in Charleston Classic finale

Joshua S. Kelly-US PRESSWIRE

Patrick Heckmann and the Boston College Eagles (1-2) host the Charleston Cougars (1-2) in the last round of the 2012 Charleston Classic at noon ET on Sunday.

Patrick Heckmann and the Boston College Eagles (1-2) will look to salvage at least one game in the 2012 Charleston Classic when they face the hosts, the Charleston Cougars (1-2), in their final game of the tournament Sunday afternoon inside TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.

The Eagles have dropped two straight after winning their season opener in convincing fashion against FIU. Boston College started strong against No. 16 ranked Baylor, even leading by two points at the break, but fell victim to a Bears' second-half surge en route to an 84-74 loss in the classic's opening round. In the next game, BC was flattened by Dayton, 87-71. Ryan Anderson has been the Eagles' leading scorer (22.7 PPG) and rebounder (10.3 RPG) through three contests.

Charleston beat Towson to open the season but has also lost its last two games in its own tournament. In the opening round, the Cougars fell to St. John's 64-53 and then proceeded to lose to Auburn, 55-51, the next day. The Cougars have two double-digit scorers in Trent Wiedeman (11.7 PPG) and Andrew Lawrence (11.5 PPG) and have six players who are currently averaging five or more points per game.

Sunday's meeting will mark the first ever between Boston College and Charleston. Tip off is set for noon ET and the game will be aired on ESPN3/WEEI.
