The Massachusetts Minutemen are one half away from their first win of the 2012 season -- and their first MAC win, as UMass currently leads Akron at halftime, 15-0.
Kicker Blake Lucas is perfect through the first half, as the kicker has been called upon three times for field goals -- and converted on all three.
UMass' touchdown came in the second quarter, when quarterback Mike Wegzyn completed a 24-yard pass to Alan Williams, putting UMass ahead 12-0. The Minutemen missed a subsequent two-point conversion attempt.
Through the first half, Wegzyn is 12-of-25 passing for 172 yards, with a touchdown and an interception.
UMass' defense has played extremely well, holding the Zips scoreless -- despite 201 total yards by Akron. Akron quarterback Dalton Williams is 15-of-23 passing through the first half for 136 yards, but has thrown three interceptions.
Akron running back Jawon Chisholm leads all rushers with 62 yards so far.
The UMass Minutemen have yet to win a game in their first season in the FBS, and a Week 11 matchup against Akron will provide their best opportunity of the year.
