The Army Black Knights defeated the Boston College Eagles 34-31 yesterday at West Point, earning them their first victory of the 2012 season and sending Eagles fans home disappointed.
With the loss, Boston College fell to 1-4 on the year which, as pointed out by BC Interruption, SB Nation's Boston College community, eerily mirrors a similar loss suffered last season when the Eagles lost to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to fall to 1-4 in 2011.
To see this program at 1-4 is simply inexcusable. Things have to change on the Heights. This is easily the worst football team I have seen play since hitting the Heights as a freshman over 10 years ago, and maybe even much longer than that.
Those sentiments remain in Eagles fans, as many have begun to call for the dismissal of BC head football coach Frank Spaziani.
Hopefully it's very clear to the next Boston College Athletic Director that action has to be taken. And soon. It may be a year (or four) too late, but if there's a positive to be taken away from this loss, it's that this point became crystal clear this afternoon on the banks of the Hudson River.
Next week, Boston College travels to Tallahassee to face Florida State.

After a sluggish start, Boston College leads Army, 24-17, after one half at West Point. The Eagles fell behind early, yielding touchdowns on Army's firs two drives. But the duo of Chase Rettig and Andre Williams paced the offense to a huge second quarter, as BC reeled off 17 straight points to take the lead.
Army rolled right through Frank Spaziani's defense on the opening drive, punching it in for a quick seven points. The Black Knights rushed it on eight of nine plays, easily moving the ball down the field. Larry Dixon busted one down the right sideline for 34 yards, setting up a one-yard score by Trent Streelman on the very next play.
The Eagles responded with a 75-yard touchdown drive of their own to even things up. Rettig hit freshman David Dudeck for big gains on back-to-back plays, but it was Williams who finished it off, rushing three straight times in the red zone and punching it in from one yard out.
The back-and-forth continued in the offensive struggle, when Army put another seven points on the board on their second possession. This time, it was Streelman who ripped off the big run, taking it in from 27 yards out for the 14-7 Army lead.
That lead wouldn't last for long, as Williams burst off a 99-yard run on the quickest of quick strikes. It was the first play of the second quarter, and Williams is doing his best to improve BC's ugly rushing statistics through the first month of the season. It was the ninth 99-yard TD run in NCAA history, with Williams breaking through the initial level and racing down the right sideline.
BC added to their big second quarter with another quick 10 points off two Army turnovers. Nate Freese drilled a 25 yarder after an Army fumble, giving the Eagles their first lead of the game. Rettig then fired a bullet to Alex Amidon in the left corner of the end zone as BC started to pour it on offensively.
Rettig was seven of 13 for 124 yards and a touchdown, while Williams rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns.
