UMass vs. Vanderbilt 2012: TV schedule, game time, spread and more

Rick Osentoski-US PRESSWIRE

UMass, still looking for its first victory in its first year in FBS, takes on Vanderbilt.

Without a victory on the year, the UMass Minutemen venture out of conference on Saturday, as they head to SEC territory to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in a primetime showdown.

The Minutemen's first year in the MAC and in the FBS hasn't been easy, as UMass has dropped seven straight — and four straight in-conference — to open the year. The Minutemen are coming off a 24-0 loss to the Bowling Green Falcons in which starting quarterback Mike Wegzyn was replaced with A.J. Doyle midway through the game. The quarterbacks combined to throw four interceptions in the loss.

The Commodores, though 3-4 on the year, have been able to hang some of the SEC's best, losing by four to open the season against the South Carolina Gamecocks and by two touchdowns in a loss to the Florida Gators two weekends ago. Vanderbilt is coming off a 17-13 victory over the Auburn Tigers to run their conference record to 2-3.

Date and Time: Oct. 27, 7 p.m.

Location: Vanderbilt Stadium, Nashville, Tenn.

TV: ESPN3

Odds: Vanderbilt is favored by 33 points at home against the winless Minutemen.
