After raising the 2012 national championship banner to the Conte Forum rafters, the Boston College Eagles turned in an outstanding first-period performance, taking a 2-0 lead over the Northeastern Huskies.

Eagle senior netminder Parker Milner made stops on all five shots he faced in the period as his squad held a 9-5 shots edge in the stanza.

BC took a 1-0 lead on the power play at 6:16 of the period as junior Kevin Hayes netted his first goal of the season off the first-career point from rookie Teddy Doherty, a Hopkinton, Mass. native, who picked up the primary assist. Hayes took the pass on the right side and beat Northeastern senior Chris Rawlings with the wrist shot.

The Eagles increased that count to 2-0 at 10:06 as senior captain Pat Mullane sprung star sophomore Johnny Gaudreau on a breakaway for his second goal in as many games, beating Rawlings under the five-hole.
