Connecticut vs. Syracuse score: Huskies trail Orange 6-3 after 1st quarter

A 23-yard Chad Cristen field goal put the Connecticut Huskies on the board, but they trail the Syracuse Orange at the end of the first quarter in a Big East football clash. Cristen's field goal capped a six-minute, 66-yard Connecticut drive after the Huskies went 3-and out on their first two possessions. However, Syracuse's Ross Krautman has two field goals of his own to give the Orange a 6-3 lead.

Cristen's field goal ended a drive in which it looked as if Connecticut had turned the ball over on two separate occasions. At the 28-yard line, Chandler Whitmer had thrown a pass that was batted away by a defensive back and picked off for an interception, but that play was called back on pass interference. Two plays later, Nick Williams caught an eight yard pass and was stripped by a Syracuse defender, but was able to recover the ball amid a sea of Orange players.

Syracuse was able to move the ball easily on their first possession, but the drive stalled at the five-yard line, leading to the field goal. The other was spurred by a long punt return to the Connecticut 21.
