Boston College vs. Florida State 2012: Eagles fans react

Florida State made it look easy against Boston College yesterday, as the Seminoles beat the Eagles 51-7 in Doak Campbell Stadium.

SB Nation's Boston College community, BC Interruption, said that their team was embarrassed in yesterday's loss, describing their performance as "listless and uninspired" against the 'Noles. This performance by Boston College was further evidence to Eagles fans that the Frank Spaziani era at BC should be coming to its conclusion.

The [television] announcers correctly called Spaziani out for ... once again quitting on his players and the team. ... Not only has Spaz failed to recruit players on the defensive line; he seems set on leaving the program cupboard even more bare than he found it.

If there is a silver lining to this game, it's that Boston College's new Athletic Director Brad Bates was on hand to witness first hand just how far this football program has fallen. Perhaps he'll reconsider his stance on firing Spaz midseason after watching his uninspired BCS football program straight up embarrassed on national television. The season is already lost. How could a midseason change in leadership be any worse for these kids?

At 1-5 and winless in the ACC, it is tough to imagine any argument for the maintenance of the status quo in Chestnut Hill for Boston College fans.

Next week, Boston College travels to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech at 3:00 p.m. Eastern.

Boston College vs. Florida State score update: Seminoles in control, lead 41-7

The Florida State Seminoles are overwhelming the Boston College Eagles, leading 41-7 after three quarters in Doak Campbell Stadium.

Florida State is outclassing the Eagles in just about every aspect of the game. The Seminoles have moved the ball with consistent ease, gaining 496 total yards. E.J. Manuel has been sublime for Jimbo Fisher's squad, throwing for 407 yards and three touchdowns on 24-of-31 passing.

Kenny Shaw and Rodney Smith have both had large evenings, racking up 125 and 108 receiving yards respectively.

Boston College hasn't enjoyed much success against the No. 12 Seminoles. Quarterback Chase Rettig has been under siege most of the contest. The junior signal-caller has only been able to complete 14-of-28 for 119 yards with a touchdown and interception.

Andre Williams is playing with purpose, amassing 95 rushing yards on only 18 carries. Bobby Swigert is leading the Eagles receiving core with five catches and 61 yards.

Boston College vs. Florida State score update: No. 12 Seminoles up 31-7 on Eagles at half

The Florida State Seminoles are having their way with the Boston College Eagles, comfortably leading 28-7 at halftime in Doak Campbell Stadium.

Florida State has been dominant from the outset, scoring on a 99-yard drive the first time it touched the ball. E.J. Manuel looks terrific, completing 15-of-20 for 296 yards and a trio of touchdowns. Manuel's biggest play came on a 77-yard touchdown toss to Kenny Shaw, which opened the scoring in the first quarter.

Shaw has only made two catches, but he's racked up 125 yards in the process.

Boston College is doing everything it can, but not much is working. Chase Rettig hasn't had much success through the air, picking up only 70 yards on 9-of-20 passing. However, Rettig did connect with Bobby Swigert on an 18-yard touchdown pass to bring the Eagles within 21 points.

Swigert is the leading receiver for Boston College with 42 yards on four receptions.

Eagles running back Andre Williams is also playing very well with 77 yards on only 12 carries.

Boston College vs. Florida State score update: Seminoles lead 14-0 after first quarter

The Florida State Seminoles are leading 14-0 over the Boston College Eagles at the end of the first quarter in Doak Campbell Stadium.

Boston College received to start the game and while it couldn't score, pinned the Seminoles down at their own 1-yard line. However, E.J. Manuel and co. were able to dig out of that hole immediately. Florida State struck on a 6-play, 99-yard drive with a stunning 77-yard touchdown bomb from Manuel to Kenny Shaw.

Following a three-and-out by the Eagles, the Seminoles picked up where the left off. Florida State went on a much shorter 58-yard jaunt, capped off by a 2-yard Lonnie Pryor touchdown run.

Boston College has had a tough time trying to stop the Seminoles, allowing 173 total yards. Unfortunately things haven't been much better on offense, with Chase Rettig completing just 3-of-10 for 35 yards.

Andrew Williams has provided some hope in the ground game, amassing 43 yards on only seven carries.

Boston College vs. Florida State: Offensive line play will be key in upset bid

The Boston College Eagles (1-4, 0-2 ACC) face the resurgent Florida St. Seminoles (5-1, 2-1 ACC) on Saturday in Tallahassee, Fla., and will attempt to derail the fast start to the Seminoles' season. But heading into the game, there is plenty the Eagles have to worry about in order to pull it off. An almost perfect game will be needed to beat the Seminoles. But what will they focus on?

BC Interruption breaks down all the big questions heading into Saturday's game, including whether or not the Eagles offensive line will be able to protect quarterback Chase Rettig, and if the Eagles defense can hold the Seminoles to less than 500 yards of offense.

BC Interruption thinks the offensive line is especially important. Boston College players haven't seen athletes like they'll see in the Seminoles, so their adjustment to that level of athleticism will go a long way in determining if the Eagles can keep things close or not.
