UConn Vs. West Virginia First Half Score: Huskies Trail 33-28

The Connecticut Huskies trail the West Virginia Mountaineers 33-28 at halftime from the XL Center in Hartford.

It was a fairly evenly played first 10 minutes between the two teams. The score was even tied 16-16 at that point. Led by Jeremy Lamb and Andre Drummond, UConn started off shooting 6-9 from the floor but also had five turnovers which started to hurt them. West Virginia went on a 5-0 run to break the tie before UConn responded with a bucket at the 7:08 mark.

West Virginia responded with a 10-5 run to extend their lead to 31-23. The Mountaineers were red hot from behind the arc and hit 6-14 of their three-point attempts in the first half. West Virginia also won the rebounding battle in the first half. UConn shot 60% from the floor but their 9 turnovers cost them as West Virginia turned them into 15 points.

Drummond and Lamb led UConn in the first half. Drummond had 9 points, 2 rebounds and a block. Lamb had 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Kevin Jones, the Big East's leading scorer and rebounder, led the Mountaineers in the first half with 13 points on 5-9 shooting.
