Red Sox Vs. White Sox: Boston Looks To Avenge May Sweep In Chicago

The last White Sox - Red Sox series came at the end of a period in which Boston had played twenty games in twenty days. The ridiculous stretch saw them breach .500 for the first time, and left the team at 30-22 as they headed back home to welcome Chicago into Fenway Park. The White Sox weren't particularly good then--they aren't any better now, either--but the exhausted Red Sox couldn't stand up to their paler counterparts, and were swept at home for the first time since the Rays took a rain-shortened two game set back when the Sox had just two wins to their names.

Now, the Red Sox are in the midst of a dominant 18-5 July, and looking to close it out with a bit of revenge on the White Sox.

It's been a tough year for Chicago. They're paying some of the worst players in the league--Alex Rios and Adam Dunn--some of the largest salaries. Despite having one of the worst offenses in the game, however, they've managed to stick near to .500 with their deep pitching rotation. That proved enough to stop the Red Sox the last time they met, but Boston is a team that can put up 10 on any given night against any given pitcher. So there are no guarantees.
