Boston University 68, Hofstra 61: Terriers Rally To Overcome Hofstra

Joe Jones is quickly forgetting his frustration with his new team's first four losses after another comeback, that gave him a win over the school where he began his coaching career. Darryl Partin led the "comeback kids" with 25 points, including 18 in a row for the Terriers, to give Boston University a 68-61 win over the Pride.

Senior Patrick Hazel recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds on 5-of-8 shooting. Point guard D.J. Irving finished with 15 points and three assists as he helped the Terriers to their first winning streak of the season.

For the second game in a row, the Terriers mounted a late comeback to earn a big non-conference win in the TicketCity Legends Classic. Trailing 61-54 with eight minutes remaining, Boston University closed the game on a 21-7 run sparked by back-to-back 3-pointers by Travis Robinson and Irving.

Hofstra was led by Mike Moore who was the lone Pride player to score in double-figures with 27 points and 11 rebounds. After scoring 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting in the first half, Moore struggled in the second half hitting just 3-of-7 shots and scoring 10 points.

Partin began his big run slightly before halftime with a jumper and two free throws to keep Boston University within two (33-31) at the break. Afte two missed shots to begin the half, he became unstoppable. In a seven-possesion span, Partin hit a jumper and then four consecutive 3-pointers that were only interrupted one of his six turnovers. His final triple tied the game at 45 with 13:20 to play, but the Pride responded with a 7-0 run of their own, to set the stage for another Terrier comeback.

With under three minutes remaining, Irving hit a jumper off a Matt Griffin steal to give the Terriers a 57-56 lead. Griffin went on to hit four free throws down the stretch to help seal the game and partially make up for his miscue Friday, that cost the Terriers a perfect weekend, in a 63-62 loss to Cleveland State.

Boston University will be back in action Wednesday when they host Delaware at 7 p.m.
