Boston College will have a new starting quarterback next time you seen them.

After Saturday's performance -- 11-for-25 with two interceptions before being replaced by Mike Marscovetra -- Dave Shinskie has been demoted and will not be starting against Notre Dame on Saturday. Head coach Frank Spaziani announced this week of practices will be a competition between Marscovetra, a a sophomore, and true freshman Chase Rettig

"We are going to make a change at quarterback,'' said Spaziani, indicating that back-up Mike Marscovetra and freshman Chase Rettig wil move up in the depth chart for the starting job this week for the job which had belonged to sophomore Dave Shinskie. "Mike and Chase will compete for the job this week.''

Spaziani added that the decision may not be made until gametime.
