According to a report in today's Boston Herald, Boston College and Notre Dame have reached a preliminary agreement to extend their football rivalry. The rivalry was slated to conclude this fall with the Eagles hosting the Irish on October 2 in Chestnut Hill.
Six games will be added to the schedule, taking the Eagles and Irish through the 2019 season. B.C. will host the Irish in 2012, 2015 and 2019, with the Eagles traveling to South Bend, Ind. in 2011, 2016 and 2018.
Fighting Irish fans will be quick to point out that Notre Dame leads the all-time series 10-9. But this would be a cheap ploy to make you forget that the Eagles have won 6 of the last 8 meetings this past decade.
For more reactions to BC and Notre Dame renewing their gridiron hostilities, be sure to stop by BC Interruption.
