Delonte West, Von Wafer Reportedly Get In Fight After Celtics Practice

For now, this is presented with appropriate amounts of skepticism, but here we go: according to Hoopsworld's Alex Kennedy, Delonte West and Von Wafer got into a fight after Celtics practice on Friday. Kennedy provides details surrounding the alleged altercation with three tweets

After another intense three-on-three game in practice today, Delonte West and Von Wafer got into a fist fight in the locker room.

Punches were thrown and the players had to be separated. The Celtics are considering releasing West, who is on a non-guaranteed contract.

Sources say that Wafer tried to walk away but West followed him into the locker room and threw the first punch. Doc and vets aren't happy.

This supposed fight comes just days after Wafer and West engaged in a heated moment and exchanged words during a two-on-two game in Sunday's practice. With that bit of recent history, it doesn't make words escalating to punches seem totally unreasonable. But so far, Kennedy is the only reporting the fight. And as WCVB Channel 5 points out, "the team was only supposed to have a meeting this morning, they don't shoot around anymore."

It also seems unlikely that on a team with veterans like Shaqulle O'Neal, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen that a fight would ever get to the point of punches being thrown.

Wafer signed a free agent deal with Boston back in July, and was the last player to make the Celtics roster. He played seven minutes against the Cavaliers on Wednesday night.

West signed a one-year deal with Boston in September. He is suspended for the first 10 games of the season following a guilty plea to a weapons charge in Maryland. In 2009, West was pulled over for a traffic violation, during which it was discovered that he had a 9mm Beretta pistol, .357 Magnum and a Remington 870 in a guitar case. West pleaded guilty to the traffic and weapons charges and was sentenced to electronic monitoring, unsupervised probation and 40 hours of community service as well as psychological counseling.
